A Semrush alternative for people who mostly want rankings

The SolSEO overview for a demo store: average position 8.0, 28 of 40 keywords on the first page of Google, and a site audit score of 73.

The short answer

Semrush is a research suite: keyword databases, a backlink index, advertising research, content tools, and rank tracking as one module among many. If your week goes on competitive research and link prospecting, that breadth is what you are paying for, and nothing here replaces it.

SolSEO does two of those jobs and goes further on both. It checks your positions every day, crawls the site once a month and on demand, grades what it finds, and fixes some of it from inside WordPress. If what you open every morning is a list of positions and a list of problems, a suite charges you for the other modules as well.

The SolSEO keyword table: each keyword's position today, its change, a line of the last 30 days, its search volume and the page that ranks
The list you open every morning, on a demo store. Every keyword was checked today, and the line beside each one is its last 30 days.

What SolSEO does

  • Daily checks to position 20 on every paid plan. The cadence is the same on the cheapest plan as on the dearest.
  • Every position ever recorded is kept, on every paid plan. No chart restarts because a retention window rolled over.
  • A crawl that grades the site out of 100 across technical, content, speed and WooCommerce, from 41 checks. Each finding says why it matters, what to change and how many points fixing it is worth.
  • A WordPress plugin that fixes findings from wp-admin. Write a missing description and the plugin reports the change. The score counts it straight away, and the next check confirms it.
  • Search Console data beside each keyword, so the clicks sit next to the position that earned them.
  • An agent API, MCP and REST, with a key you mint yourself, on every paid plan.
One keyword's last 90 days in SolSEO: position 6, up 4 on 30 days, with 26 clicks from Search Console
One keyword in SolSEO, on a demo store. The page entered the top 20 in late June and reached sixth by September, and the Search Console line above the chart shows the 26 clicks it earned in 28 days.

The SolSEO site audit: one job worth about 7 points, four things fixed since the last check, and eight fixes reported by the site waiting on the next check
The audit on the same demo store. Jobs are ranked by the points each one would add to the score. The eight fixes on the right were made through the WordPress plugin and are waiting for the next check to confirm them.

Who should pick which

Pick the suite if you do competitive research every week, pitch new clients on keyword gaps, or need link data you can act on.

Pick SolSEO if you run a handful of sites, want to know what moved overnight, and want an audit that hands you something to fix today. That goes double if one of the sites is a WooCommerce store: the audit reads variation schema, filtered URLs and out-of-stock pages, and the plugin fixes several of those in place.

What it costs to find out

The free plan tracks ten keywords on one site once a week and crawls 250 pages, with no card. Starter is A$24.99 a month, A$19.99 for the first month, for 125 keywords checked daily on one site.
